About us


Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) is a marketing organization with a mission to increase the economic value of Alaska’s fishery resources through:

  • Increase positive awareness of the Alaska Seafood brand;
  • Collaborative marketing programs that align the marketing efforts of the industry and ASMI to achieve maximum impact within the food industry;
  • Advocate for the sustainability of Alaska seafood harvests as a result of existing Alaska fisheries management imperatives. (Alaska State Constitution, Fisheries Conservation and Management Act (Magnuson-Stevens));
  • Proactive marketing planning to address short-term and long-term goals while remaining flexible and responsive to a changing environment and economy;
  • Quality assurance, technical analysis of the industry, education, promotion and research;
  • Prudent and efficient tax management.

ASMI is a public-private partnership between the state of Alaska and the Alaskan fishing industry established to foster the economic development of a renewable natural resource. ASMI is playing a key role in repositioning the Alaska seafood industry as a competitive, market-driven food production industry. Their work to increase the value of Alaska’s seafood portfolio is accomplished through partnerships with retail stores, foodservice distributors, restaurant chains, foodservice operators, universities, culinary schools, and the media. It conducts consumer campaigns, public relations, and advertising activities, and aligns itself with industry efforts for maximum effectiveness. ASMI also serves as the brand manager for the Alaska Seafood family of brands.

Headquartered in Juneau, Alaska with offices in Seattle, Barcelona, ​​São Paulo, Paris, London, Tokyo, and Beijing, ASMI encourages the consumption of Alaska seafood through education, research, advertising and promotion programs in its core markets.
